Stefani launched her first solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. in 2004. The disc was inspired by '80s music, especially pop, R & B and dance. The album's third single "Hollaback Girl" became their first digital download sold in over one million copies. The second album, The Sweet Escape has become a worldwide success. With sales of No Doubt, Stefani has sold over 30 million albums.
In the world of celebrity, Stefani is known for his involvement in the fashion world. In 2003, she debuted her first collection, called LAMB, followed in 2005 by Harajuku Lovers collection. In 2005 Stefani married Gavin Rossdale (singer in the band Bush), and together they have a child born in 2006.
Stefani was born in Fullerton, California. Her parents were big fans of folk music, so she grew up with Bob Dylan or Emmylou Harris's music. In childhood, musical interests turned to movies like The Sound of Music and Evita.
After creating a demo, Gwen was encouraged by her father to attend a music course. With Eric (her brother), Gwen was introduced to the band No Doubt. Their debut album was released in 1992, but due to poor promotion, it didn't have a huge success. She continued with "The Beacon Street Collection", self-produced disc, also very weakly promoted.
A third album Tragic Kingdom (1995) was produced in three years. Meanwhile, the band was on the verge of split up because romantic relationship between Stefani and bandmate Tony Kanal. Their break-up inspired the artist lyrically, as you can see in parts of Do not Speak, Sunday Morning and Hey You. Five singles were released from the album. The disc has sold over 16 million copies and the band received several Grammy nominations.
In 2000 No Doubt released "Return of Saturn", a less popular disc. Most lyrics are based on Gwen's relationship with Gavin Rossdale, lead singer Bush. Rock Steady, released in 2001 explored the dancehall and reggae music genres, while drawing on the influential New Wave. Songs "Hey Baby" and "Underneath It All" each of them received a Grammy Award.
The solo debut album, Love.Angel.Music.Baby was released in November 2004. The disc includes collaborations with Kanal, Linda Peryy Andre 3000 (Outkast) and The Neptunes. Stefani created the album to modernize the music she heard in high school. The disc peaked at number 7 on Billboard's Top 200, with 310,000 discs sold in the first week.
In the U.S., UK, Australia and Canada, the album became multi-platinum. Stefani was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, plus five nominations for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Rap / Sung Collaboration.
The first single was "What You Waiting For?", Which came on top of the charts. Rich Girl was the second single released. The second disc, The Sweet Escape, was released in December 2006. The disk is moving very much to dance music. Wind It Up was the first single. Despite critics' opinions that were very much divided, the song reached the top of the sales charts.
