Rosa Luise Parks was an african-american civil rights activist. She was called "Mother of the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement" by the U.S. Congress. She was born on February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Her mother Leona Edwards was a teacher and her father James McCauley was a carpenter
She suffered as a child being very small even for her age and had chronic tonsillitis. Park's autobiography recounts that some of her earliest memories are of the kindness of white strangers, but given her situation it was impossible to ingore the racism.
The beginning of the modern civil rights movement in the United States on December 1 1955, thanks to a black woman that refused to give up her bus seat to a white person. Rosa Parks was arrested and fined for violating a city ordinance and her act of defiance didn't go unnoticed, she began a movement that ended the legal racism in america, she became an inspiration to all people worldwide.
